Doppel's Dementia

I went to the reptile show in Costa Mesa today intending to look around and see what I might get in the future and ended up coming home with two pygmy chameleons instead. They are just over an inch long right now and might get as large as two inches when fully grown. I had trouble getting pictures today but hopefully will have more than this one soon. For reference that channel under his front legs is about 3/8″ high. I really need to get one on my finger for a picture so you can really see the size.

I saw a car with a “Frodo Failed, Bush Has the Ring” bumper sticker today. If that isn’t odd enough the same car also had one of those magnetic ribbon thingies that was red, white & blue with a bald eagle on it. Strange combination to me.

The guy parked next to me at the train station yesterday for some reason keeps a dinner plate full of red peppers on the rear deck of his Honda Civic. There’s got to be a better way to dry peppers than leaving them in your car all day, doesn’t there?

(And yes, that’s my reflection in the corner. No time to waste framing the perfect pic when I’m trying to get home.)

Now that I’ve seen the extensive destruction and horrific conditions in New Orleans I feel bad about my post a few days ago. I really don’t know what it’s like to go through what those people are going through now. My hat is off to everyone down there who is somehow managing to survive day by day.

Tonight I witnessed an invasion of idiots on all four self-checkout lanes at Albertson’s (supermarket). People couldn’t scan their items, they couldn’t bag right, couldn’t use their credit card. I used to breeze through a lot faster than the regular checkout but anymore it’s a toss-up on which is faster.

Yep, I’d much rather deal with the occassional major earthquake than live in fear of hurricanes every year. Can you image dealing with this:

Thanks to the SB crew (Dave, Ruel and Cisco) for putting us up (and putting up with us) last weekend. The Dirty Deeds show (AC/DC tribute band) was really cool, I forgot how much fun a live show in a tiny venue can be. Of course if I hadn’t had that last Vodka Rockstar I would have been much better off.

The carnitas on Saturday were great, and what better way to eat than while watching Gary Johnston say “I PROMISE I WILL NEVER DIE”.
